Applied ethology is the study of the behaviour
of animals that are under some form of human management and is a
growing scientific field that is helping to improve welfare of
animals kept in homes, on farms and in zoos.
This site is maintained by a veterinarian with
a particular interest in animal behaviour. It contains three types
of information for different types of visitor:
-
Children are directed to the
kids’ stuff
pages that look at the sorts of greeting, grouping and grumbling
seen in domestic animals.
-
General readers are most likely to be
interested in the page on training and those dedicated to
farm, companion and
exotic animals.
-
Veterinarians and animal scientists are
commended to the summaries of recent scientific reports and their
implications for animal welfare that can be found in the
recent
advances page.
